Luton manager Rob Edwards has expressed confidence in giving Japanese international Daiki Hashioka his full Premier League debut when the Hatters visit Crystal Palace tomorrow.

Hashioka, 24, was afforded some time to acclimate to life at Kenilworth Road after joining during the January transfer window. However, he also suffered a slight hamstring strain during this period. He made his first appearance in English football when he was named in the matchday squad against Manchester City in the FA Cup earlier this month. Hashioka entered the game in the second half of the 6-2 defeat, playing in the right wingback role. Subsequently, he was called upon when Luton Town found themselves 2-0 down against Aston Villa last Saturday.

On this occasion, Hashioka assumed the left-sided center-half position, allowing Alfie Doughty to revert to his left wingback role and Chiedozie Ogbene to switch flanks. He delivered a composed and assured performance, aiding the hosts in leveling the score at 2-2. However, they ultimately conceded a last-minute winner when Lucas Digne headed home at the back post. With Amari’i Bell and Joe Johnson sidelined for this weekend’s trip to Selhurst Park, and center-half Gabe Osho still uncertain, it’s possible that Hashioka could start the game. Manager Rob Edwards is prepared to make that decision if necessary.
