Before the international break, Leeds United is all smiles again following their 2-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday. Daniel Farke’s team is now unbeaten and has eight points out of a possible twelve. Leeds has bounced back from a dismal 3-3 draw against Portsmouth in the season’s opening match and a 3-0 Carabao Cup loss to Middlesbrough with three straight clean sheets.

Following two dominant victories at West Brom, there was a solid point and a clean sheet. Leeds defeated Hull City with ease on Saturday afternoon after winning 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday. Although Tim Walter’s team had opportunities in the first half, Leeds never seemed to be in danger of losing or even drawing the match. Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe goals gave them a second victory, 24–25.

Neil Redfearn pinpoints Leeds’ “issue” with the £10 million guy.

The victory came after supporters were disappointed that Ao Tanaka and Isaac Schmidt were the only two signings made on deadline day. On Saturday, though, a victory and a clean sheet were followed by a new contract for Wilfried Gnonto.

But Patrick Bamford was sidelined ahead of the game due to yet another injury. Farke can no longer rely on the striker, and it is a “problem,” according to former Leeds manager Neil Redfearn, who spoke to BBC Radio Leeds. Strikers are what you need. Bamford is unreliable; he’s never fit. There is an issue with that. Joseph will occasionally run himself into the ground, so you’ll need a striker on par with him off the bench. The key is having strikers.

In the summer, Leeds ought to have thought about selling Bamford. After a difficult start to the season, Piroe showed Leeds supporters what he can do in front of goal with a clinical finish for Leeds’ second goal. There’s no denying that Piroe would take the field first if Joseph was not available.

if £10 million acquisition Bamford is ready or not. The third-choice striker at Elland Road is currently one of Leeds’ highest paid players; perhaps Leeds ought to have tried to accept bids for him during the transfer window. Bamford’s salary package, his earnings, and the fact that he is currently in his thirties may have made some clubs reluctant to take a bet on him. However, his future at Leeds is now more uncertain than before.
