M2 delays expected after crash

There has been a multi-vehicle road traffic collision on the M2 south-bound in Belfast, resulting in two lanes being closed.
Traffic is affected between Fortwilliam and Duncrue Street and delays are expected.
Police are currently in attendance.

Police closed a section of the M2 motorway this morning due to an incident.

The motorway was closed in both directions at Sandyknowes and Greencastle shortly before 7am this morning due to the incident.

At around 8am, the southbound carriageway reopened to traffic, however the northbound one remains closed.

There are no further details regarding the incident that has caused motorway closure with the PSNI saying that it will provide an update in due course.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Motorists are advised of a number of lane closures on the M2 motorway this morning, Saturday 30th November. All three lanes north bound at the hill section are closed, with traffic being diverted off at Greencastle. The motorway is also closed south bound at Sandyknowes. The motorway on-slip lanes city bound at Sandyknowes and Greencastle are also closed. An update will follow in due course.”
