M6
Real reason revealed behind the closing of the M6 in both directions
There are huge queues on the M6 this morning due to a ‘shed load’ near Preston.
Two lanes are closed on the northbound carriageway due to the incident. Emergency services are at the scene between J31 for Samlesbury and J31A for Longridge.
Congestion is back to where the M6 and M61 meet. Traffic monitoring service Inrix says three lanes remain closed after motorists were held for around 10 minutes.
AA Traffic News now reports ‘severe delays of 50 minutes’ in the area. There is also ‘stop-start’ traffic on the M61 northbound from Chorley to the M6 with 25-minute delays.
50-minute delays on M6
There are now 50-minute delays on the M6 northbound, according to AA Traffic News. Here is the latest congestion map:
In addition to stop-start traffic on the M61 northbound prior to the M6, which takes around 35 minutes to travel, Inrix now indicates that congestion on the M6 northbound is back to J28 for Leyland.
