Police warns of huge danger looms after serious M5 crash

All traffic was stopped on the M5 following a multi-vehicle crash near Bristol this afternoon (Friday, November 8). According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, the collision took place heading southbound.

Traffic was stopped near junction 20 for Clevedon at about 4.55pm. Traffic became heavy on the motorway and drivers faced considerable delays.

Around 5pm, Inrix reported: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to multi-vehicle accident on M5 southbound near J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon). Traffic held around 16:55.”

Delays as vehicle has tyre changed

Inrix reports:

One lane closed and queueing traffic due to vehicle having a tyre changed on M5 southbound from J20 (Clevedon) to J21 (Weston-super-mare).

Traffic in patches

Inrix says: “Queueing traffic due to accident, now on the hard shoulder on M5 Southbound near J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon). Congestion to J19 (Portishead). Traffic in patches, traffic was held around 16:55 to 17:05.”

A live traffic map from the AA shows lengthy delays on the M5 near Bristol. All traffic has been stopped on the southbound carriageway.
