Police investigate “unexplained” death of man found in Gainsborough today
Officers are looking to hear from anyone who was in the area on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning
A man has died, after being found with serious injuries in Gainsborough on Wednesday
39-year-old James Irvine was flown to Hull Royal Infirmary just after midday on Wednesday, and passed away yesterday evening
Lincolnshire Police say they are treating the death as unexplained, and are now looking for help form the public to identify what happened.
In particular, officers are looking for anyone who was in the area of the Sandars Maltings car park, on Bridge Street, between approximately 8pm and midnight on Tuesday
They believe someone at this time has spoken to the victim and offered to help him.
Detective Inspector Andy Wright-Lakin, said: “This is a very sad death and my condolences go out to James’s family and friends.
“I ask that anyone who was at or around the car park on Tuesday evening to get in touch. I’d also like to thank the local community for their help so far.”
A statement from Lincolnshire Police continued: “We are searching premises on King Street and Sandars Maltings on Bridge Street in Gainsborough so there may continue to be police activity in the area.
“We arrested two men, aged 50 and 49 years, and a woman aged 35 years in connection with this investigation and they remain in custody.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of King Street or Sandars Maltings in Gainsborough, between the evening of Tuesday and around midday Wednesday, or anyone who has any information they think will assist, to contact us.”
