As the Oklahoma Sooners prepare for spring ball, they boast one of the most robust wide receiver contingents nationwide. Despite the departure of Drake Stoops, the top receiver in 2023, the wide receiver position is exceptionally well-equipped for the upcoming 2024 season.

Nic Anderson and Jalil Farooq are back after ranking second and third, respectively, in receiving yards in 2023. Additionally, Jayden Gibson returns following a breakout season in a rotational capacity. Speaking about Gibson on Wednesday, Brent Venables stated, “He’s performing at his peak. I don’t believe he lost a single competition throughout the entire winter.”

Andrel Anthony, who led the Sooners in receiving before suffering a season-ending injury against Texas, is also poised to make a return. Although the timeline for his comeback remains uncertain, Venables mentioned that Anthony is progressing well in his rehabilitation.

In addition to Anthony’s potential return, OU welcomes back speedsters Brenan Thompson and Jaquaize Pettaway. Furthermore, they have bolstered their ranks with a promising group of signees for the 2024 season.

A notable presence in the slot is Deion Burks, widely anticipated to secure a starting role for the Sooners.

With arguably the deepest wide receiver group on the roster, Oklahoma offers first-year starter Jackson Arnold a dynamic array of playmakers. The potential pairing of Arnold with any of these receivers has the makings of one of the most formidable quarterback-wide receiver duos in the nation. According to CBS Sports, Arnold and Burks are ranked among the top ten quarterback-wide receiver duos in college football ahead of the 2024 season.
