Norfolk man charged with DUI after fatal crash on Shore Drive in Virginia Beach
WAVY / Virginia Beach, Virginia — According to authorities, a guy was killed and another person was critically injured in an accident that involved a 22-year-old Norfolk male.
The two vehicles collided on the 2400 block of Shore Drive, close to First Landing State Park, at around 2:30 in the morning.
Benjamin Alvarado Jr., 48, of Virginia Beach, was the driver of one of the cars, according to the police, and he was declared dead at the site. A female passenger meanwhile was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, 22-year-old Samuel Randolph, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, first offense. On Wednesday, VBPD announced that Randolph was also charges with DUI Manslaughter and DUI Maiming.
