For a while now, Liverpool has shown interest in FC Porto’s Alan Varela, and the most recent claims are fascinating.

Bolavip stated in January that the Reds are keeping a close eye on the Argentine defensive midfielder, who is also being watched by Manchester City.

News: Liverpool must agree to pay a manager £12.8 million to replace Klopp.

More recently, Foot Mercato disclosed that Liverpool is among the teams who have stepped up to attempt to sign the South American player.

In addition to the Reds, the French media site claims that teams like Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 winners, have also advanced.

Varela’s current contract with the Dragons expires in2028, and in order to keep him, the £59.5 million release clause must be fulfilled.

The 22-year-old holding midfielder for Porto has played in 21 league games this season, tallying two goals and dishing out as many assists.

More significantly, Varela has contributed to the Estadio do Dragao team’s 11 clean sheets, which has allowed them own the best defensive record in the Primeira Liga.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Fabinho was the primary playmaker at Anfield. The Brazilian’s replacement, Endo, was enticed to join Anfield during the summer transfer window.

The Japanese DM has excelled under the German manager’s tutelage in the current campaign, but the Reds should search for a long-term replacement as he turned 31 last month.

How much do you think Liverpool should give to sign Alan Varela during the summer transfer window? £59.5 million?
