‘Every parent’s worst nightmare’ as teenager, 17, killed in crash in Ormskirk

Three other teenage boys were seriously injured after the collision

Tributes have been paid to a teenager who died following a crash. Emergency services were called shortly after 9pm on Wednesday, December after a Vauxhall Corsa driving north on Fir Tree Lane in Aughton left the carriageway and crashed with a farm building.

A 17-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the car, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital but died a short time later. Lancashire Police said the boy’s family are aware and being supported at this time.

Three other teenagers, all boys, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Following the tragic news, hundreds of people have paid tribute to the teenager. Writing on the Lancashire Police’s Facebook page, one person said: “Awww, that’s really sad. Thoughts go out to the families… that’s too young to pass.”

Another person added: “Utterly heartbreaking. Tragic at any time, but it just feels a bit worse so close to [Christmas]. Condolences to the young man’s family.”

A third person also wrote: “Every parents worst nightmare thoughts are with the families and friends.” A fourth added: “So tragic, to lose a son, grandson, brother, nephew? So very young, my heartfelt condolences to the family.”

ECHO readers also paid tribute to the teenager and sent messages of support to his family. Writing on the ECHO’s Facebook page, Alisha Good Win said: “Absolutely devastating for all affected, thinking of these lads families and peers. Rest in peace young man.”

Vickie Edward-Hodson added: “This is absolutely devastating for so many good people. Sending love and strength to them all.” Paula Clarke Dwan said: “Absolutely devastating. Sending love and strength to all involved at the terribly sad time.”

There was a large emergency services presence in the area following the crash and the road was closed for several hours. Det Sgt Joseph Ghigi, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) said: “This collision has very sadly resulted in the death of one young man and left three others with serious injuries and my thoughts are with all of their loved ones at this time.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have either seen the collision or the car in the moments before the collision, or anyone who has any dashcam or mobile phone footage or CCTV to get in touch.” You can call police on 101 quoting log 1316
