A 23-year-old man has been charged after a woman reported being raped in Guildford on Thursday.
Emmanuel Ofulue, 23, of Hertfordshire, was charged with rape and sexual assault by penetration. He will make his next appearance at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, October 28.
At a hearing on Monday, September 30, he was granted conditional court bail. This includes orders not to enter Surrey, which will be tracked via electric tag.
Inspector Blaine Rafferty, Borough Commander for Guildford, stated, “We understand that this incident will have alarmed the local community.” “These types of occurrences, while uncommon, are naturally concerning; nevertheless, I can assure you that a comprehensive and thorough investigation is presently ongoing, with one man charged.
“You may have seen more patrols in the area, which will continue for the remainder of the week. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact one of our officers if you encounter them on patrol.
