The M6 closed as rescue team attends ghastly crash scene

Four fire engines were sent to the M6 in Cheshire when a car overturned. The collision saw traffic on the northbound stretch brought to a stop.

The incident caused around two miles of congestion following the crash with fire crews and paramedics called out. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed today that engines from Alsager, Crewe, Sandbach and Middlewich were sent to the collision, which occurred near to Junction 17 for Sandbach.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a car in collision with the central reservation and on its roof. All casualties were handed to the care of ambulance crews. The northbound carriageway was closed while firefighters dealt with the incident and made the vehicle safe.”
