Road closed as rescue team battle to save crash victims in Oldham

There was a huge emergency service response after a serious crash in Oldham.

Park Road was closed for hours as a result of the incident which happened at around 9.15am. Pictures from the scene show multiple fire engines, police cars and ambulances at the scene, near to Alexandra Retail Park.

An air ambulance also landed in the retail park, which is a short distance from Oldham town centre

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “At around 9.15am, officers responded to reports of an RTC in Park Road, Oldham.

“Road closures are currently in place while police and other emergency services carry out their work.”

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: ” At just before 9.20am today two fire engines from Oldham and Chadderton fire stations plus the technical response unit from Ashton fire station were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Park Road, Oldham. Crews remain in attendance alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police.”

Further roads taped off by police

A number of roads leading onto Park Road have also been taped off by police.

Investigations at the scene

Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are carrying out investigations at the scene. The force is yet to provide any information on the circumstances of the crash.
