Police appeal for information after boy, 16, dies and second critical after crash in Redcar

The tragic collision occurred on Cotswold Drive in Redcar.

A 16-year-old died and an 18-year-old is at the hospital with significant head injuries after the two boys crashed a motorcycle they were riding on a garden wall, according to the police. The tragic collision occurred on Cotswold Drive in Redcar. Cleveland Police is appealing for witnesses or dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch as the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

Emergency services rushed to assist after they were notified of the incident at around midnight this morning, Wednesday, October 30, but sadly the 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 18-year-old was admitted to James Cook University Hospital and remains there in critical condition.

Cleveland Police said in a statement: “A teenage boy, 16, has sadly died following a collision on Cotswold Drive in Redcar around midnight this morning, Wednesday, October 30

“Officers were called to a report of two males on a motorcycle on Cotswold Drive, who appeared to have collided with a garden wall.

“The 16-year-old old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

“The second male aged 18 suffered significant head injuries and is receiving treatment at James Cook University Hospital. He is in critical condition.

“Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage or CCTV to contact them on 101 quoting 182917.”
