Reservoir search for missing oldham man enters second day, The force has urged people to avoid the area while the operation is under way
An underwater search for a man who went missing at a reservoir after he was believed to be paddleboarding has entered a second day.
Emergency services rescued a woman from the water at Dovestone Reservoir near Oldham at about 14:30 BST on Sunday after reports of a couple going missing.
Specialist police officers are “set to make further assessments” as the search for the man continues, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said.
The force has urged people to avoid the area while the operation is under way.
The woman was treated by paramedics after she was rescued, with the couple believed to be in their 20s.
A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “A throw line was used by a member of the public and one casualty was rescued from the water prior to fire service arrival.”
Fire engines, a helicopter and an underwater drone have been used to search the area, and there is now a major cordon in place preventing public access to the reservoir.
The fire service were at the scene on Sunday for more than four hours, the spokesman added.
Police remained at the reservoir overnight along with other emergency services including the coastguard and mountain rescue teams.
