KC Royals manager Matt Quatraro set to miss second game due to personal matter

Manager of the Kansas City Royals Matt Quatraro will skip his team’s next game for the second time in a row in order to handle a personal situation, according to the club. Acting manager Paul Hoover will lead the team against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday. Hoover has made a couple appearances for the Royals in Quatraro’s place. Earlier in the season, from June 23 to 24, he managed. Hoover assumed the position last year following Quatraro’s positive COVID-19 test.

In the meanwhile, the coaching staff of the Royals will be reorganised. Vance Wilson, the coach of third base, is currently the bench coach. Jose Alguacil, the infield coach, has taken over as the third base coach. The Royals and Cleveland Guardians are in the middle of a three-game series. The American League Central lead is a competition between both teams.

The Royals (75-64) led the Red Sox (70-68) by 4 1/2 games going into Tuesday’s play in the race for the final AL Wild Card spot. In the AL Central, the Royals trail the Minnesota Twins (75-62) by one game and the Guardians (79-59) by four and a half games.
