LIVERPOOL
Jurgen Klopp felt relieved Liverpool declined to sell Caoimhin Kelleher because of Allison’s “serious” injury.
Goalkeeper Alisson will likely be out of the starting lineup for the majority of the rest of the season, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who expressed his relief that the team rejected “nonsense” offers for backup Caoimhin Kelleher.
The No. 1 for Brazil and Liverpool will return before the season ends, but Klopp stated that because of a hamstring injury, it is probably going to happen later rather than sooner.
Liverpool will be without their starting keeper for the sixth straight game when they travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.”It’s a legitimate muscle injury, but there’s no real timeframe on it,” Klopp stated. It’s not a little one. Although quite significant, the injury won’t terminate the season.
The health status of midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and forward Darwin Nunez, who are anticipated to return to the team at the City Ground, was updated by Klopp.
Klopp is comforted in Alisson’s absence by Kelleher, whose performances in the last two transfer windows have validated the manager’s and the club’s firm attitude in refusing to cash in on valuations that were widely regarded as being considerably below the young Irishman’s worth.
The opponents on Saturday are thought to be among those who are excited about the Irish international.
Kelleher was essential to Liverpool’s triumph in the Carabao Cup last weekend. He also preserved a clean sheet in the 3-0 FA Cup fifth-round win over Southampton.
Klopp remarked, “For me, there was no possibility of him leaving, so I was not interested in who was asking.”
“In a competitive market, a reasonable pricing would have been necessary to give us an opportunity to do something.
“It’s not like other goalies who move for £15 million or £20 million from A to B. That is absurd and completely unrealistic. It remains to be seen if Kelleher’s goals of being Alisson’s backup will ever be fully met. He has started 17 games for Liverpool so far this season, and there’s a good chance he’ll reach 30 appearances by May.”With ten alternative spots to play, an outfield player in Caiomhin’s situation would never come and talk about these kinds of viewpoints. It’s a little different with a goalie, but it never got to the point where people were told to “stay in there and shut up.” It was just another typical talk regarding his future.
“The most crucial thing was that we needed to play more games with him to assist him go to the next stage of his growth. My perspective was exactly the same as the player’s.
“I believe that he would now be content with the choice he made in the summer.”
Mohamed Salah won’t be available for Liverpool this weekend. The Egyptian is improving, though, and he might return to play Manchester City on Sunday or Sparta Prague in Thursday’s Europa League round of 16.
About Kelleher’s long-term future, Klopp stated, “It is quite normal that you have these discussions with players who are ready.”
