Ipswich town
Ipswich Town column: Plymouth Argyle presents a stiff challenge for Kieran McKenna’s team after a solid showing in February.
There are four on the board. Ipswich Town’s February has been far better than its sticky January.
With four victories, seventeen goals in six games, and a strong return to form, The Tractor Boys appear to be back in the running for automatic promotion.
Will we succeed in getting there? Who knows?
This club has unquestionably put itself back on the map, and it does appear that things can only get better.
The triumph over Birmingham on Saturday was excellent. We were due for it. We were clearly superior, and Kieran McKenna will be happy with his team’s ability to uphold their morals and win the match—something they consistently seem to do.
But I think it will be a different challenge this weekend. As an impartial observer of the league standings, the Tractor Boys ought to be going into Home Park with the expectation of winning all three points.
That won’t be simple, though, as the Pilgrims have taught us over the past several years, and I will always have respect for Argyle since he gave us a true fight last year.
In the end, we’ve done a better job readjusting to life in the Championship, but I have a strange feeling about this one and I firmly believe that if we want to defeat them, we must be at the top of our game.
Last time out, Town prevailed thanks to goals from Marcus Harness, George Hirst, and a very funny own goal by Bali Mumba. As in October, I predict goals from both teams in this match.
